Mission and vision statement
To use my skills and passion as an advocate for health and activity to have a significant, positive impact on the health and well-being of the people around me.
Background
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, I spent many nights outside on the hockey rink with nothing but the falling snow and a streetlight to keep me company. I have always enjoyed pushing my physical limits and would self-identify as a thrill-seeker. I believe both health and illness are multidimensional and that causation in most things is multifactorial.
I am a proud family man and love to spend time with my daughter Willow and my wife Kerianne. Balancing family, university, part-time work and volunteering has been one of the biggest challenges during my undergrad degrees. While some of the inherent sacrifices have been difficult to make, I remain resolute in prioritizing my family as an investment of time and energy over other draws.
Most likely places to find me when I am not at university, work or volunteering: Walking through the park or along the ocean with my family, at the gym, riding my motorcycle, making super cheesy videos of Willow.

Why I am pursuing a career in physiotherapy
The drive to use my time and energy to help people and affect positive change perforates the majority of my actions and decisions. I feel that physiotherapy is uniquely suited to me and would produce ample opportunities to live out my mission and vision statement. I have had some great people help me move beyond some bumps in the road and I want to be able to impact others the way their care has impacted me.
Media
I was approached by CNN.com to write a commentary for a story they were publishing on birth photography. The photographer and subject of the story, Jenna Shouldice, read a blog post I wrote about my experience with birth photography at the birth of my daughter and recommended me to CNN.com.
