To Whom It May Concern:
In his time volunteering at Glengarry hospital Cory displayed a high level of ability in working with a challenging population, namely individuals with developmental disabilities. When interacting with a group of residents with varying levels of cognitive impairment, one requires a high level of patience and compassion, both of which were evident attributes of Cory’s in his time spent with us.
He also showed the necessary but rare ability to seamlessly adapt programming to the competency level of the client with whom he was speaking. This is particularly essential in a program such as the one Cory was involved in, Mental Aerobics, where one must find ways to involve everyone in a group setting by challenging each person individually based on different needs. Cory was an extremely reliable volunteer who arrived early for his shifts and always kept in close communication with staff regarding any changes in his personal schedule that might alter his availability.
He displayed a high level of professionalism and maturity while interacting with staff and residents in a respectful manner. Also noteworthy was his enthusiasm for the program he was involved in. Cory was constantly looking for ways to improve the program and try new things. This enthusiasm is rare in volunteers and he improved the quality of the program and helped implement changes that continue to be used. I believe Cory to be an asset to any workplace and his interpersonal skills and intelligence made him a highly valuable addition to our team at Glengarry hospital.
